At a well know beach here called Ferry Landing there is an area called Fisherman's Point where as the name states, fisherman stand out on the rocks and fish. Christopher Columbus landed at this location in 1494, he named his new discovery Puerto Grande. Upon making land, he found Taino fishermen preparing a feast for the local chieftain. He realized that the riches he was in search of were not here, and left the follow day.
