Chasing Hummingbirds

While enjoying the beautiful weather we have here in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba I was buzzed by a little bullet of a bird no larger than my thumb.  I love these little birds, and have several feeders around my home.  They are something of a regular fixture that are not really even paid attention to, but on this particular day I was looking through the lens of my Nikon and decided, my next project would need to be "Hummingbirds."

Thus the title.  Even though these colorful little creatures are all around, capturing them in a photograph is another thing altogether.  As it is, it's difficult to even see them fly with your naked eye, now try to do it through a viewfinder.  I'll share what I capture, on what I'm sure will be a long quest full of many adventures to capture those pictures I plan to one day mount proudly on my wall.

These pictures taken on this first day of my quest, while very nice shots, are not quite what I'm looking for.  I was intrigued and tickled that this little bird seemed just as fascinated with me as I was with it.  I believe this will become a regular type of meeting we have while I snap those pictures and it tries to figure out what this strange creature is up to.

So I'm off to chase hummingbirds.....
